Shafik Sachedina was born in Tanzania in the year 1950 before he moved to England and acquired citizenship there. Shafik joined Guy medical hospital. A medical college in London, before he joined London dental school where he acquired his skills of dental surgery. He has worked across the United Kingdom and has been ranked among the best surgeons.
Shafik has also played a role in community matters, where he has worked with the Institute of Ismaili studies for over a decade. The institute was founded in the year 1977. The institute aims at creating awareness in the Islamic culture by creating initiatives and even publishing books and articles, journals and magazines.
The role of Shafik Sachedina in the Institute of Ismaili is to head the department. This is by ensuring that all the activities of the institute run accordingly and smoothly across the sixteen branches of the institution.
He has played a massive role in assigning duties and roles in all the branches, as well as coordinating the running of the institution. He also serves as a member of the board of management, whose main role is to decide on the activities the institute should partake, and make critical decisions on the same.

Shafik is also a philanthropist, working with the Aga Khan development network committee and serving as the chairman of humanitarian assistance international coordinating committees. The committee aims at promoting the economic development of Muslims globally.
This Is by promoting the growth of the community, educating the Muslims about their historical and cultural background that is more often neglected, and helping them understand where they come from. The institution is aimed at giving a face to the Islamic studies and culture.
Shafik Sachedina also works with Sussex health care as joint chairman. Care centers and support services. He plays a role in helping the elderly by providing care for their dementia. Shafik and his team do so by maintaining and taking care of their physical health, and also engaging them in helpful activities such as conducting quizzes, cooking contest, and handcrafting.
The team also cares for those with learning disabilities by offering those services that are suitable for them. They take care of those suffering from neurological illnesses such as motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, and Huntington’s disease. Doctor Shafik has also put an effort in providing special care for people suffering from brain injuries that may or may not include spinal cord lesions.
