Rick Smith received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. After that he furthered his studies to receive an MBA from the University of Rochester’s New York. In the year 2000 he was promoted as the COO of the company due to his talents and skills, he worked as the president of the company up to the year 2003.

Rick joined Securus Technologies in 2008 an worked diligently and due to that and his dedication to the company he was quickly promoted to the Chief Executive Officer of the company in the year 2014. He has been the President of the company since then. He is also a board member of Integra Telecom Co Ltd and Eschelon Telecom Inc.Securus Technologies is a highly recognized prison communication company that is based I texas. The company is a for-profit prison company that serves over 2,000 correctional facilities across the United States and Canada. The company was founded in the year 1986 and has since then been serving the different needs of the corrections industry and the law enforcement.

The company has used over $600 million dollars to buy various patents and technologies, thanks to the collection and organization of various data by the organization the criminal justice system is able to track inmates and find data patterns which aid the police in solving crimes and better serves the needs of emergency responders.The company has over 140 patents and is the leading provider of technology that are currently used to protect society. Some of its products include a system that it introduced to be able to control contraband cell phones this was very popular in the market and by 2016 it had managed to receive approval in more than 5 department of correction facilities. ClassDojo has the Power to Change Education at the Grassroots Level

A fifth grade student at Philips Elementary School in Napa suffers from Selective Mutism, a condition characterized by inability to speak in social situations. However, when the student took part in a class discussion, a classmate of his intervened saying that his classmate should be given Dojo points for that as he was brave to speak out.
This student was referring to the popular ClassDojo platform, a mobile app and a web platform that their teachers uses to track, communicate with their parents about their mindset and behaviors in classroom. The application is a twenty five-person San Francisco start up that have gone viral among education institutions.
According to its co-founder and CEO, Sam Chaudhary, the platform is a free tool aimed at giving kids, teachers and parents the power to change the power of education at the proletarian level. The company has hit the tipping point in being mainstream at a great deals schools, most of which have multiple classrooms. Currently, the platform is being used by millions of teachers at approximately 85,000 schools in United States, two thirds of which are k-12 category schools.
After unveiling another of its products for school principals last month, the platform has already gathered 30,000 school administrators, representing approximately a quarter of United States schools. Their tactic is actually being adopted by other prolific companies including Dropbox, Yammer and Slack.
Even with its grassroots background, ClassDojo is winning respect from observers and educators. The platform is earning huge praise particularly with middle and elementary schools, where it is perceived as a way of engaging students resulting to better classroom instructions.
